China has refused (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080508-china-refuses-to-guarantee-open-internet-during-olympics.html) the International Olympic Committee's "reminder" that press must have full Internet access during the Games.

sigh... I still don't understand how anyone thought it was a good idea to let them host the Olympics...

Oh come on, China is the spirit of the Olympics incarnate.

They should let my hometown of 360 rednecks host it next time, it would be entertaining.

I apologize in advance for this....But China seriously needs to back the fsck up and let go of that suppressive government. A little freedom builds morale. China's morale is nonexistent, since those who are faithful to the government are fanatic.

China sucks.

It seems our government and corporations don't agree with you- they're shipping over money, jobs, propietary information and the wherewithal to build up a technological infrastructure as fast as any other country on the planet- free or not.

One of the first rules they drum into you in many college business management courses is that morals, politics, religion, patriotism, etc. are backseat to blackening the bottom line.

Have you noticed what one of the skirted issues of this election is so far?

Btw- That earthquake was very bad. Regardless of what their government is, we are likely not going to forget who we are and show the world once again what makes us different- whether there is internet access or not.
