Windows media player dvd menu problems

i'm having problems with dvd menus in wmv 11
sometimes they dont show at all (are there but invisible)
and sometimes they are there but i cant use them

anyone know a solution for this problem?
os is xp

WMP sometimes, just doesn't like playing DVD's, but first make sure that you have all the needed codec's. I'd suggest installing the latest version of K Lite Master Codec (http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm) If that doesn't fix your situation then it could just be the way the dvd has been authored and to play it back properly on your computer you'd need a DVD player program like WinDVD, normally you get some dvd player software with your dvd-rom drive, or it's preinstalled on your system if you have a vendor box.
