A demo was released on Xbox Live Marketplace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live_Marketplace) and the PlayStation Store (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Store) on June 5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_5), 2008 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008). The demo allowed players to play til 1250 AD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1250) as Cleopatra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleopatra) or Julius Caesar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Caesar), and also allowed multiplayer play. -Per wikipedia

I am going to check it out this weekend. The demo is 1.5gb on the xbox.

The graphics are a little arcady, but the gameplay is great.

This makes me weep as well.

However, Civ2 was released on the PSX way back in the day.

I hate to say it, but that's where I first played it, and got hooked on the seires.

Yes, but the difference was that version of Civ 2 was a direct PC port... Not some new game made up specifically for the consoles...

One more great franchise lost to the consoles... :( I played the demo and it really actually is quite fun. The game is zoomed in pretty far for normal game play but the game itself is a lot of fun.

Some of the city screens remind me of Installation Wizards where you just hit standard installation, you can customize it but for the average user standard is fine for city production.

Overall I like it, but the game might be a little slow for most console gamers, especially the shooter crowd that congregated around the 360.
