is the p4 2.6c a good cpu? and is it a good overclocker?

Depends on what cooling it used with the CPU, what type of motherboard its' used with and what CPU stepping/FPO Batch # it has.

Honestly, I haven't heard of a 2.6 that can't make it to 3.00 GHz with relative ease.

Those will sell fast.

I have hears of several making >3.6. Mine boots >3.7, benchmarks everything @ 3.45 but isnt stable for memory/dual folding until 3.3. It's probably an 'average' 2.6C.

The average for most 2.6's is 3.3-3.5 on extreme air cooling for 100% stability. :)

do you guys thinks thats a good deal for $169 and would it be a good boost from my 2500+ barton @ 2.2

yes and yes, with qualifiers. Of course you're going to need a motherboard unless you have a P4 setup - IS7 at the low end and IC7Max3 or P4C800-E Deluxe (LOOK FOR REVISION 2.0!!) at the high end. You will want at least very good PC3200, I don't remember what you have for memory.

With the proper setup and overclocking it will be faster than the Barton. Having said that, the cpu is almost $100 more so the 'value' is up to you.

Last post for a couple days, road trip time, GL Bud.

Apparently, the P4C800-E Deluxe rev 2.0 has much better voltage regulation, due to (?) larger/better capacitors(?). I say apparently because I have nothing substantial link wise to show you. Posting this on sister-in-laws ancient old machine with dial up/Win95 and about to slit my wrists over the (lack of) speed.
