Gents,
Saw some old threads on this topic but my Asus laptop, running vista is not letting me get online. Its "protecting" me apparently.
How do I shut this damn thing off?
Thanks...

This article adresses only XP SP2 and I unfortunately have Vista on this machine.
I have folled the steps to exempt Internet Explorer from the DEP but nothing works...

OK. I did this and am getting an Acces is Denied message in the cmd prompt. Yes, I have admin privledges...
Try turning off User Account Control (UAC)
Press Start -> Control panel.
Go to Useraccounts, press your user, press "Activate or deactivate User Account Control".
Uncheck the UAC mark. Press ok. It may require a reboot. Then try again.
If it still fails, try the command without the {current} in it: "bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff"

OK. The cmd pompt command worked. Still shuts IE down though...
Hm.
Are you sure you've done everything correctly? What happens when you try to enter the command? Still "Access Is Denied"? have you tried to reboot again after entering the command?
This site: http://ajsystems.com/kb/index.php?article=370 shows how to deal with DEP without using the command.
Other than that, I'm running out of ideas..
