......since I just found out I start a job tomorrow and go back to work for the first time since May. I am really looking forward to it but am going to miss being on here all the time. I guess priorities and common sense win out. Oh pffffft!

Good to hear you got a job.
Look at it this way... the more time you spend at work, the more money you have to spend on more computer parts. :D

I figued that I would be working again when I was ready to do it again. I don't think I would have lasted for long back in August or September and that would have made getting another job even harder. So I finally kicked myself out the door when I started to feel like a lazy bum and it worked. The good part is that I will be working local instead of going over the road like I tried for a year earlier on. Geeky is right that I will be able to buy more parts as this is obviously an addiction, both upgrading components and getting online. Yes, My name is Larry and I am a geek and an internet junkie. :D

Glad to hear that you got a new job, let the modding commence.
I'm hoping to rejoin the ranks of the employed soon but I'll have to find something my back will allow me to do.

Good to hear your back in action working. More money for parts is great, better systems to put together and start crunching those wu's :)
Don't worry about being an addict, it's okay, we all are, so your only half insane, hehe

Nice to be back at work though MT, congrats.
I start my early shift at 6am but get up 20 minutes earlier than I need to to check email and pop in here. It's like a virtual breakfast.

Congrats!
Hope everything goes well.
I went thru something similar in 2000. Ended up going back to work at a job I wasn't really suited to and being miserable, then bounced to another less than satisfactory job. Took until last year to find the right situation but all is well now, fingers toes & eyes crossed. Good to hear you waited for the right situation and are back putting shoulder to grindstone, hope it's 100% fullfilling for ya Larry.

Too bad you don't have a desk job w/ a computer and access to the 'net. Actually, upon further examination, it might be best because you might not accomplish anything during the work day other than browsing. :D

WEll the first two days went pretty good. I like the people I am working with (even though a little horseplay between 2 of the guys broke my special order Serengetti Pilot's glasses but they are getting them fixed for me;)). In case anyone doesn't know, I am a truck driver and I have a good diversified background in it. My current job has me working for a construction company and moving heavy eqipment like loaders, dozers and graders to name a few. It is good work and I get more physical than I would doing any other driving job due to always climbing and throwing chains and pulling and thightening things down. Yesterday I had a close call that I patted myself on the back for saving and not loosing a piece of equipment. I was moving a Cat 988 loader (these are one of the bigger ones) and had a chain holding it down break on the freeway during rush hour traffic after noticing that the giant loader was moving on my trailer. I was able to pull over and reposition the equipment and re-chained it. It turned out that the pin that holds a hook on the end of the chain was badly worn and should have been replaced some time ago. After that I inspected the rest of my chains and tie-down equipment and replaced what I deemed to be in poor condition. In the first 2 days I got 24 hours in. :D

I have just over 2 million miles under my butt with 0 tickets and the only accident was when someone lost control going the other way and came spinning like a top right at me. I often wish I had gone into the engineering field like my teachers tried to get me to but after some recolection I think I had more fun and adventure along the path I took. Sometimes more than I bargained for!

Nice record mtgoat, that's very commendable. I've had 3 accidents just driving personal vehicles and the first was my fault (I backed into a guy that had stopped in my blind-spot when I was 18) and the other 2 were not my fault...well one was when I looped my bike because I wasn't used to disk brakes on the front end and I got cut off but the other was totally not my fault, I was turning left in a protected left turn lane and the guy in the other left turn lane went straight and hit me instead of turning left.
I was on my bike at the time as well.

Nice record, yeah. But I like mine better... 1 ticket within 1 year of getting my license... :D
I wasn't going that fast... 53 (ok, so it was more like 60, but he wrote it up for 53) in a 35. Besides, I had to get to the computer store before it closed...
