Bored so I shutdown my PC and sprayed some compressed air on my HSF (AX-7) and the temps dropped over 10°C. The case is wide open and it wasn't even that dusty to begin with unless you consider the whirlwind of dust in the living room caused by the compressed air :D Now what sucks is that it seems I'm allergic to dust. :grumble: I need a better case and some airfilters :o

In all seriousness though, yes. Dust is bad. Bad for temps, and bad for the computer in general.

The most obvious effect is the increased temperatures; however, it also gets into fan bearings, which will cause the fan to fail faster, especially if it is a sleeve bearing fan.

Yay! Thoroughly cleaned the HSF and fan and temps dropped another 5°C (42-43C). All I need now is to buy some AS5 to see if I can drop under 40°C and some money :grumble:. If only I had a good board and memory, I could atleast take advantage of the temp drop :sad2:
