Yep, had to go to the dentist next to where I work this afternoon and get my back two wisdom teeth pulled. I was a little nervous at first, but he gave me a shot and I was okay. It didn't take long at all, the first I felt when he was taking his tool and like cracking the tooth, but the second he yanked right out.
Got home and my jaw was hurting baddd, I was about to go crazy, so I took a second pain pill. Some 800mg motrin stuff. And now it's all good. Waiting for my mouth to stop bleeding and I should be good to go.

Wow, man. I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. They knocked me out for that. I was in so much pain when I woke up. I couldn't do anything for a week because it hurt to move my head around.
You got off nice and easy. Just watch for dry sockets. Ouch!
Owie, painful memories. Company health plan was to crappy and I was too broke to get general anaesthetic. Was supposed to get all 4 out in one sitting. At one point, the dentist using a hammer while his assistant held the chisel in place - not to break the tooth but rather THE BONE THAT HAD GROWN OVER THE TOOTH. Then he used ordinary pliers to grab, twist and separate the bone fragments from my jaw. *ow* After an hour, and 3 teeth out, he said "you've had enough for one day, come back another time and we'll take the other one out."
10 years later, I still have that other tooth. They can remove it from my corpse if they feel so inclined.

I got all 4 of mine removed in one sitting as well. They knocked me out cold for it, too. Of course, on one side of my mouth I had two wisdom teeth fused together as one super sized one. I wanted to take it home, polish it up and put it in a jar under a black light or something (would have made a great Thanksgiving centerpiece) but they had to break it into bits to get it out. Darn...
I have vuage memories of singing children songs as my mom drove me home. She says she told me to sing 'cause she was afraid I'd fall asleep in the car otherwise, and neither her nor my older sister would have been capable of carrying me in.
It's not that I'm fat, just that they're wussies, and I'm much bigger (taller) than they are...
Anyways, I was back on my feet the next day, and 3 days later I was cutting/pulling out the stitches on my own. My oral surgeon said he had never seen such a fast recovery. By the end of the week all the surgical evidence remaining was a blue bruise on my cheek close to where they removed the supertooth.

Um, Clutch, crushed ice, ice cream, cold stuff in mouth helps dampen pain and slow down bleeding and thicken blood on surface so it thickens on surface (coagulates) faster and heals.
Yeah had wisdom and one eye tooth pulled, another had to have surface gum removed, and a rubber band grab point glued onto it to pull it so it went down instead of sideways right into lip, and cold deadened nerves left after pulling and let gums heal faster as the blood coagulated faster. In mouth, this is a doable thing, with crushed ice or icy slurpies (plain old ice is best, nothing in the way of other chemicals to make the healing process slower or give pain).
Best of luck, and do not take so much Motrin you buzz yourself off to sleep, please... :D
John.

I had my done in my teens. Dentist gave me the choice of doing them one side at a time a couple of weeks apart, in the chair, or of doing all 4 at once under general anaesthetic. I did not know much about wisdom teeth at that time, so I choose to do them in the chair, a couple of weeks apart. I mean, they're just teeth, right?
Wrong.
My advice to anyone ever needing wisdom teeth removal and given an option: do them all at once, and don't be awake for it. I nearly did not go back to get the second side done. I did, but I was a lot more nervous about the second side, having endured the pain of the first side. Really, doing a side a time only prolongs the pain.
I feel for you man....

I still remember while they were healing (stitches stil in) one or two of my friends tried to make me laugh all the time and the stitches on the one part ripped! gaaaaaahhh....
/me twitches thinking about it
Take it easy mate.
//edit: ah yes! Ice cream, excellent :)

Guess I'm lucky. I don't have to have my wisdom teeth impacted or removed as there's plenty of space in my big mouth to keep all of my teeth :D

when my lower wisdom teeth were yanked it tickled my testies ...felt like they were being pulled up threw my mouth.
All in all it wasn't so bad ...I expected way worse.
Don't let the wife see this thread she needs hers pulled.

Oddly enough, mine didn't hurt when they pulled them (well, I was out, but they didn't hurt afterwards, much..). Maybe I'm a painlover and don't know it, but I never had much trouble from my wisdom teeth op. I felt it, it just never bothered me.
Oh well. :hrm:
Now here's the cool part.. I pushed on it just for the hell of it and nearly passed out for some reason. I felt only a small rush of pain, and my vision went black. Immediately plopped down on the bed since I have many sharp furniture objects. It was strange.

Yeah I got all 4 of mine done last summer, that **** hurt like a mofo after, I was on gas for the operation, couldnt eat normal for a few days, ouch.
On a side note, my brother was being a dick after I got mine pulled so I walked by while he was eating his dinner and he made some wise ass comment so I decided to swap out my blood soaked gauze right there in front of the dinner table, aren't I pleasant.

*gulp*
I think I'm have to have mine removed later although I only have 2 (no bottom ones). I'm not that fond of pain so I'm gonna b!tch and whine for some good painkillers :D

Yea, tell them to give you the good stuff. My jaw still hurts a little bit, I think it is just the muscle that is soar, but still hurts a little bit.

Eh. For braces, my mouth was too cramped.
Had 4 teeth pulled, my mommy let me have general anesthesia. =) You know that REALLY tired feeling after you get up after a not-so-long ammount of sleep? I wanted to go back to sleep after I woke up...but NOOOOO, they forced me to stay awake.
