Hello folks,
I recently downloaded Unbutu 8.04.1, I burned it trough my laptop and can read all the files in that cd without any problems (on the laptop).
I inserted that disk into the machine, started it up and get a disk boot failure.
I started it up again under win XP and tried to read the cd but windows won't recognize I've got a disk in there.
Does that sounds familliar to anybody?

Sounds like you've just got a bad burn.
Now when you downloaded the file you got a .iso disk, which is an image file. To make that into a usable cd when burning it onto disk you don't just burn the file onto the cd. You have to look through whatever cd burning software your using and look for an option to 'burn image' to disk. Assuming you don't have a bad optical drive that should do the trick.

There is a check your cd disk option to see if there are any errors on the disk. I have had no problem other than using window files with U 8.04.

For what it's worth 8.10 just came out.
Huh? Been out for several months.
I downloaded mine in April 08.
That's not possible, since the first alpha wasn't released until June. The first beta was on Oct. 2, and the final release was on Oct. 30.

Mine is not .1 and it is not a BETA, and I have had it for months. I gave a copy of it to a friend about 3 months ago.

Hardy
Hardy is the second Long Term Support ("LTS") release of Ubuntu, with a strong emphasis on supportability for long term deployments on both the desktop and the server.
Hardy will be delivered in April 2008 on the normal six-month Ubuntu cycle. It will be designated 8.04 LTS. There will be a scheduled point release (8.04.1) about three months after the initial release. For this LTS, Canonical will validate Hardy against a full portfolio of servers from major vendors, as well as running a certification program for ISVs.

Then it's not 8.10, and you misunderstood.
8.10 is Intrepid Ibex, 8.04 and its progeny are Hardy Heron.
