anyone having problems getting wu's? my main rig keeps saying F@h:attempting to get work packet.

post a bit of your log please ...I'm getting them fine.
Let's see what server you're trying to get wu's from.

try stopping the client and starting again ...then post your log after about 2 mins and I'll go check the server starus

it appears a few servers are having issues ...you may not get any wu's tonight if that is the case ...but from your log I can't tell which server it's trying to use.
maybe mmonnin has ideas ...
how do you check if servers are down?

just kidding ...the servers will probably be up by noon tomorrow at the latest ...usually just takes someone to go in in the morning and reset it.

why not fold two clients per machine so that when one is hung up like that the other will still have something to do?
just make sure that the second client is machineid=2
wont it take longer on that machine? and if not how do i configure?

well it's relative bud ...if you fold 2 of the same wu's it will take twice as long.
Configure it exactly the same way you have the first client configured ...how are you setup now?
what folder do you have everything in?
think about it this way:
If it takes 1 hour to fold a 1 point wu that is 1 point per hour right?
At that rate you would fold 2 wu's in 2 hours.
And at that rate folding w/ 2 clients you would just fold 2 wu's in 2 hours anyway so it's the exact same thing.

what I would do is copy that folder and give it another name ...since my first folder is called f@h1 I would call the next one f@h2
also I would dete the work folder since it will build a new one once it downloads a new wu.

Well after checking the Assignment servers again, they are both rejecting as well as a few others. Gonna have to wait til someone gets in at Stanford. They are on the West coast so it may be an hour or so.
I run a Genome service in the background. In case this ever happens I still have a WU to work on, the service WU never expires, and I still return gromacs WUs quickly.
i ust checked the servers and they are working for me but im at a school computer and cant check if my home computer is getting wu's
is everyone getting wu's now? are servers still acting up?

I have gotten 2 new ones.
no im lazy didnt install 2 clients its soooo slow with 1 client im afraid i need to get some more ram for here.

2 Clients arent necessary. Only as a backup really.

All of them are up except 171.64.122.107. You should be fine tho. Both assignment servers are fine. One is getting hammered tho.
Are you going through some kind of firewall. You said you are on 2k4 server? That have anything to do with it?
i have a domain contoller (win 2k3 ee) main rig (win2k3 ee temp) and logged in domain and internet works and evrything normally i get wu's fine.
i tried setting client machine to 2 hinking maybe it would work since im on a domain but didnt work
i also tried installing 2 clients and i did those steps and wont work it says folding a;ready running and i changed the machine id's

It has to be in a different folder. IT also needs the local flag as well since its trying to use the files from client 1.
Have you tried using IE settings or any of the network info to make sure it can get out.
k i hooked internet straight to main rig and it could fold, i guess since dc is folding too its throwing things off.

I just think that it cant get thru DC. Is port 80 and 8080 open?
not sure ill check when i get home, I now it can get on internet with no problem but i cant figure out why it couldnt get a wu
