View Full Version : Wow! 2.5GHz 2500!

One of my 2500s just POSTed @ 2500MHz (12.5x 200) in an Abit KX7 :wow: :wow: :wow:
It crashed while detecting the IDE drives, but I'm almost positive that's due to the high PCI/AGP clocks (40/80MHz). I can't wait to get the A7N8X back and see what this thing can really do. If I can get them both running stably @ 2.5GHz, I should be able to get a 5GHz AMD MP system when I throw 'em in there :wow:
I dunno what kind of OCs people are getting on the 2500s, but 2.5GHz on air cooling is insane!

:D
I also picked up 4 of those 160 gig maxtors to put into 2 320 gig raid 0 arrays... I MAY pick up 2 gigs of PC2700 for it too, but I'm not sure about that yet...

no worries, danball, i had my old trusty kx7 running 205fsb without any mod what so ever, it was such a great, i had to sell it to get me a 8rda+ a while back
and congrats to geeky for the OC, my 1700+ is also running at the same speed, i had it at 200x12.5 but i went for the 205x12 instead, hopefully you will get the same OC with your other chip, to runn in duall with a healthy 5 gig RAW amd power.

you running 11.5 X 195 or 12.5 X 180
Geeky1: so you can run 12.5 X 195~197 no problems?

@ 195, yes. @ 197, I dun know- I haven't tried it @ 197... I still can't figure out why it's letting me change the mutli on a "locked" chip (or is the 2500 unlocked too?) I

No, I'm running at 13.5x166 (from 12.5x166). My KD7-RAID allows me to change the multipliers on my CPU

geeky is the 2500 an xp or mp?

2500 is unlocked - Tbreds and newer are unlocked
DB1976: try 12.5X180 then 11.5X195 - no problem with pc3200 ram and KD7 series of boards will safely do upto 195 with no worry of losing data or problems. Just raise your ddr voltage.

I know, but then there's the issue of heat.
How hot can it go before I'm living dangerously?

Stay below 60C... Just keep an eye on it and step it up slowly.

Yeah, I guess I should install MBM when and if I do that.

look do it this way - drop your multiplier to 10 and leave your vcore and vdimm alone. Raise your fsb to 180 and try benchmarks or prime95 for a few minutes. Then work your way up to 195. If you are unstable (freeze/crash) then raise your vdimm. You should not need more than 2.85 vdimm - no heat issues for the ram. So if you make it to 195 then you'll be running 1950mhz and now raise your multi to 10.5 then 11 then 11.5 testing at each step for a few minutes.

I guess I'll have to work at that later.

csimon; that 2500 is an XP, but don't tell my K7D Master-L that, because it's getting both of 'em (I've got 2 identical stepping retail 2500s) after they're modded to MPs and set to run @ 15 or 16x multis...

2 320 gig raid 0 arrays holy smokes, what are you going to be using this computer for? a file server I hope. That's a lot of space my friend, use it wisely, lol

Clutch, it's not about the size, it's about the speeeeeed... it's just going to be my desktop- games, word processing, etc. but the drives were hella cheap- $173 in store w/tax for 3, $153 w/tax fo the other, minus 4 $70 rebates, minus 3 Maxtor (Promise) ATA-133 cards, which I think I'll get $20 for apiece, so that's another $60 off, so the total is $332 for the drives themselves... not bad for 640 gigs...
As for using it wisely... I'm thinking I'll volunteer to approve pix for the babe thread :D

As loud as the fan you put on them :)
They are only heatsinks, you provide the fan of your choice.
