There were similar issues with Athlon 64s IIRC. I remember it being not so much of an issue with high vdimm, but rather a large difference between vcore and vdimm. People with FX57s at default volts were toasting their CPUs running 3+V on their DDR. Overvolting the CPU seemed to help in that scenario. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
