View Full Version : XP and BluRay?

This is a computer problem that's been plaguing me for a while now...
I got a dv6700t HP Pavilion laptop (with Intel processor) in July for college. I don't like Vista though, so I downgraded the laptop to XP Professional (later getting the upgrade for the SP3). It's nice and stable and the battery life is pretty good too.
Anyways, I have a BlueRay drive on my computer. It worked before I downgraded, but now it doesn't work with XP. The DVD software I'm using on my laptop is Nero 8 (with the latest BluRay plug in that enables BlueRay support) but I haven't had any luck.
Are there some additional drivers that I need? I've been on another forum for notebooks and no one had a clue.
BTW, the BlueRay drive model on my HP is MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ-120
What's not working? Playback or burning?

What's not working? Playback or burning?
I'm sorry, should have been more specific.
Playback isn't working at all. I can't even explore the bluray disc.
I tried both a burned BluRay disc from a friend AND a commercial BluRay disc (as I know some players have trouble playing one or the other sometimes)
I don't know about burning yet. I'll worry about that once I get playback working.
It does DVDs/CDs fine though, just not BluRay.
Download and install these (http://www.dvdnextcopysupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=4385) Toshiba UDF 2.5 drivers.
Universal Disc Format versions iterate the specifications of how a disc is physically written and logically organized in terms of its directory structure. Windows XP cannot natively read or explore Blu-Ray discs because it only comes with UDF 2.0 support. These drivers will correct that issue.
Blu-Ray uses 2.5 or later, the newest being a subversion of 2.6.

Okay thank you!
It seems like this will work. I followed the directions exactly (not exiting out of the "can't install" message) but I couldn't find the specified directory in my temp folder...I checked ALL of my temp folders too.
I use firefox too, but I don't think this is a problem, as the guy who posted the directions and drivers has a firefox avatar, so I'm sure he uses the same...

UPDATE:
heh, Silly me. After restarting a few times, the directory appeared in my temp folder and I was able to install the files.
I set up a Blu-Ray disc in my Netflix line-up so that should be here in about a day. (I only had one Blu-Ray and I gave it to my sister before I left for college)
I'll let you know how it turns out!
