Also, is there any way to mod the default fsb setting of the AXP without screwing around with the chip itself, or doing any soldering on the board?

I'd like to mod my 1800/nf7 to default to 166MHz, but I can't do it to the CPU (new package) and I don't want to solder anything on the board.

Is there another way to do it, like a pinmod or something?

;) I used a strand from speaker wire. Took 5 minutes to cut it the right length.

For example, to force 200fsb on a 166fsb CPU, connect ag31 to ah32, or to force166fsb on a 133fsb CPU, connect ah30 to ah28, as shown in the table below.

Just did the mod after reading the page Park linked. It would seem as if the defaults are labled wrong because the FSB defaulted to 200, rather than 166 (which is what it should have defaulted to according to the page) from a default of 133.

I can boot at 220 now, but things lock up after the first few minutes. I'm experimenting with 218 ATM.

Did you do both wires? That would be why if you did. The picture just shows them both in action, or a 133FSB to a 200FSB.

You sure it made it 200? Not calling you a liar or anything at all, just no _real_ way I can think of to tell what the default FSB is besides not 133.

The L12 mod, whether you do it by pin, on the chip (Like me), or in the socket (Like this) has a random result.. It can produce a default of 166 or a default of 200.

Either way the results are the same; FSB overclockability goes up, up, up!

All I know is the default multi is 11 (which is what it should be, as it's a 1700+) and the new default FSB is 200. I dont know what else to tell ya.

Well, it seems I can squeeze a FEW (6 or 7) more Mhz outa the FSB. I get lockups at anything higher. It's more than I was able to get before, but it wasn't worth it IMO.

I went from 215 to 250 with my shot at the L12.

I dunno, it's prolly the RAM. Being HyperX 3500, it's stock speed is 215, yet I couldnt get it to 210 without bringing up the vDIMM to 2.8v.

I could also try lowering the multi, as the CPU itself might not like being higher than 2.3Ghz even. That's the last thing I can think of.

Nope, lowering the multi seemed to make no diff. Oh well.

I think that picture is wrong. When i did the mod, I connected the bridges with the wire trick according to the picture listed on this site.

The L12 mod will give 166 default on D10 bios for some reason. 200 in newer bioses.

No. You want to mod yours to 133.

Nobody really knows. But 133 chips -> 166/200, 166/200 chips -> 133.
