Hopefully this will bring some added market competition that will allow lcd prices to drop to a more reasonable level.

I'm really surprised about this. From what I've read LCD makers are barely making any profits. Some say they loose money on every panel that goes out because competition is so fierce; Much like the DDR manufacturers. Dollar to size, you get about 25% more screen for the same price as CRT's were in their prime. Looking online, there are plenty of great deals on LCD TV's and monitors.

I mean really. is the starting price for a 40inch lcd tv supposed to be 600 or something?
