View Full Version : Project Infiltrator
hehehehehe, codename: Infiltrator has been completed, i went to officemax and bought a really nice brief case, when i got it home, i ripped every bit of it out of the case, and proceeded to stuff a computer inside of it, it tured out pretty good and when i can get a hold of a digital cameral ill take some pics of it, not too exciting parts though, i got most of my old computer in it, its a P4ITA mobo, p4 1.7 willy, 512 rambus a ti4200 and a 20 gig hard drive, not bad for a nal box, and a hell of alot easyer to carry. >=D

Cool. I've been meaning to do something like this, but I'd require a LCD, and that poses 2 problems:
1. I REFUSE to use anything less than 1280x1024. 17" LCDs are expensive.
2. Finding a case big enough for a 17"+ lcd that I'm happy with isn't easy, and I'm too lazy to build one from scratch.
here she is, the InFiltrator

Ok, so the question then is wtf the guys at Gateway are smoking...
passive cooling on a GF4 is a bad idea.

Geekyk1: The GF4 MX I put in my brothers machine is passively cooled. You don't seem to realise how old the technology they use is and how crap they are, they don't create heat because they don't do much.

The Gf4 TI series has considerably more transistors than the Gf4 MX series had and they do in fact get pretty warm but judging from the size of that sink I'd say as long as it's not overclocked too hard it should be ok.

Oops, I thought Geeky said MX (though he didn't actually say it). Wonder where I got that idea from....

The TI4200 kind of looks like the same PCB as the MX so I didn't know what it was until I read what was in there.
Too bad the mobo died, I think the purple loked pretty swanky.
when i TRY to start the machine it beeps at me in about 3 second beeps and just repeats its self, it started doing it when it was still my main machine, so i quickly replaced it before my main rig whent out of order.
im buying the exact mobo from ebay so i wont have to format, lol im lazy, yea thats a real geforce 4 not a supped up geforce 2, it'll burn yea pretty good, its done it to me more than once :) i played all my games on it with 2xAA on all the time stock speeds, its a very nice card actualy, especialy for the price
