Installing 4.exe [Archive] - Icrontic Forums

Do I need to remove 3.25 folding prog. before installing 4.exe folding prog? Or can it be installed overtop of the old one. I would think the older ver. should be removed before installing new one, but just wanted to make sure. :D

Are you talking about the graphical version? If so, then I would think it best to use the uninstall utility after finishing your present wu, then install the new FAH4 graphical client. If you are talking about the console version, then it's no problem to just drop the new client into the folder you have it running from and start using it instead of FAH3. You won't even need to wait for the wu to finish before starting up with the console F@H4 client as it will automatically convert what it needs to. Personally, all I run is the console client and put it in the system tray with an app called Trayit.

One other thing you will have to upgrade when switching to the new client is to get the latest version of EMIII. This is because the present version won't recognize the new clients, be it graphical or console version. :smiles:

I do remove the old console (.exe) and then install the new one.
I used this as a chance to clean house and deleted everything, but you don't need to.

Thnx guys, Appreciate your quick answers. I'm on 375/2500 right now, so I'll catch it this evening when it finishes this big one. I'm getting a 2500 almost every other time it loads new work units. Lots of points!

On my machines and tiered rigs, I simply installed v4 without doing anything, updated my startup short-cuts and then deleted v3.25 (.exe) after the new client had taken over. 9/10 times the WU continued without a hitch using the new client.
