Seagate's 1.5TB Barracuda drives experienced random freezing when they first came out, but a firmware update supposedly fixed the issue. Was performance affected (http://techreport.com/articles.x/16221)?

Original Post (http://icrontic.com/ticker/seagates-15tb-barracuda-firmware-update)

Guess what I just did....
I just manually fixed a BRICKED Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drive by resetting the drive via Terminal. Yep... an OEM drive not under warranty that would cost at least a few hundred to recover the data off of... hacked and fixed. Flashed the Firmware to the "fixed" version and all the data is right where it was before.
