You've got a PCI-e slot for your video card. You can put whatever you want in there. What is your budget? I assume you really don't want the best card. They're $500.

I'd go for a Radeon HD 4850 (http://icrontic.pgpartner.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=5/form_keyword=4850/rd=1/st=query).

Yep. HD 4850 would be a great choice.

Have you read our $600 PC guide (http://icrontic.com/articles/the-600-random-winter-holiday-pc)? You might get some sweet ideas about what you could do for your next system.

I would have to point out that the machine in question likely has a very modest power supply of dubious quality. That to me would be the limiting factor here.

Im with you on that the PSU is only 450

The 450W in the $600 box is solid. I believe Mt_Goat is referring to the power supply in your rig hopkins121. OEM units are usually pretty cheap and underpowered.

Sorry yes the one i had in it was bad the only thing i have out of that computer is the montherboard and chip the rest has been changed i now have a 650 PSU gforce 8500 2gb of ram 500 gb hardrive im still new to all this and just picking things up as i go along

Then I would recommend an ATI HD4850 or NVidia 9800GT without reservation! For folding the 9800GT will outperform the ATI card by a good 39% with the CUDA beta drivers!
