Eagerly awaiting some benchmarks/performance data on these. AMD did a great job with dual-channel and integrated memory controllers. I'm hoping they do as well with three-channel and start giving Intel a proper run again.

The Phenom II and the Core i7 already have vastly more bandwidth they can use on dual channel and/or DDR2 configurations. This will push the Phenom a few percentage points ahead in applications that are particularly cycle-sensitive, but it won't be anything to write home about.

AMD is firmly #2 until Bulldozer. God help them if that chip is mediocre too.

Well, if there was an appropriate name for what their processor-to-take-down-Intel is to be named, that's it.

Let's hope it does. I was a fan of the hammer line, too. When I saw that Opterons were being labeled Sledgehammer, I had to get a pair.

Haha that's a great working name. Nice to see they have a sense of humor about it. :]
