RAM upgrade

Hi again,
Right, now that I/We have fixed the previous problem (DVD, thanks so much, put the old dvd drive in and it works perfectly), I have another question.

As I said, my PC is 4 years old and works well enough for me. However, I would like it to work a little faster. I've investigated upgrading the RAM, and at Crucial.Com I can get a 1GB DDR PC3200 thats compatible for £35.

Is this worth doing? What difference would it make?

The present spec is:
Intel Celeron D 3.06ghz
512mb ram

I use my PC mostly for the following;
Surfing (obviously!)
Playing and downloading music files
Editing music flies (with Sonicstage)
Uploading and editing Photo's

I'm not really in the market for a new PC at the moment.

That'll make a noticeable difference on a system such as yours, especially if you multi-task.

That's very, very expensive for only 1GB. But yes, doubling or quadrupling your RAM would be the single best step you could take to improve your computer's performance. It will make an immediate, noticeable performance improvement.

Purchase from the Crucial site - NOOOO.

Check out Hexus and/or other UK sites. Your target price should be one half or better than waht you listed. If your budget is 35 pounds, then you should look for a 2GB kit - 2 X 1GB modules.
