is the laptop really dead?

hi people,
i got a laptop about 5 years old, :D
its a medion (model number: mim2080)
and i was using once and it stopped working can anyone explain?
erm... just to say it may help i did have trouble with the charging jack (had to have it in a certain Position) but it will not start

Pull the battery out, leave the plug in.

Press and hold down the power button. It should turn on, keep holding down power and it should after 10 seconds or so turn off. Then try turning it back on normally.

If you don't get any lights at all then it's probably your power jack that's shot and you'd need to send it in some where to get it repaired. If it does light-up but doesn't power on/off then it's possibly bad motherboard or your bios.

i've tried this with 2 different power things lol
the power things that sit on the floor
the lights do not light up and it does not even try to start-up
and is it possiable to change the jack myself?
