I heard about this in passing this morning and it only registered with me that he was somehow connected. Not an ACTUAL MEMBER of the organization.
I'm pretty sure that being a member of the plaintiff organization disqualifies you instantly from hearing the case. I'd like to see some repercussions for the judge on this as well, since this is a pretty egregious violation of ethics.
Copyright conversations aside, I can't see how anyone could feel that this judge was acting from an impartial position.

A fair trial demands an impartial judge. Simple as that.

Although I use PB all the time, anyone should be able to see plain as day that what they are doing is illegal (despite the bumbling attempts of their prosecution to prove such). But they should still be tried properly without a biased judge.
The thing about Swedish law is that what they're doing is not obviously illegal. In the US? Sure. UK? Yus. But Sweden? Maybe not. This is legal precedence, not enforcement.

Good point, the law over there is not the same as in the US. But regardless that judge needs to be replaced. That's a lack of integrity there for non-disclosure up front.
