WOW Character Problem

Got WOW installed & updated finally.
Went to make character- picked Blood Elf / Paladin.
Games says you need burning crusade expansion pack.
I put the BC expansion cd in and it says play Burning Crusade.
It doesn't install.
I went to the burning crusade and tried to create Blood Elf / Paladin and it says you need burning crusade to make this character.
Any ideas?

You need to register the expansion with your account. Go to http://worldofwarcraft.com and click on "account management" on the main page. It's been a while since I've poked around in that control panel, but it's in there. You'll have to enter the CD key to register it.

The Burning Crusade installer should have done this for you.

It said it updated/upgraded account so I'll try it out.
