Could someone help me please?<o>

Recently I had a 300GB SATA-150 (Maxtor DiamondMax 10 (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/maxtor,1016-2.html)) fail on me, so I bought a 1000GB SATA-300 (Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=20b92d0ca8dce110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&locale=en-US)) drive to replace it with. The problem I am having is the system hangs while detecting the SATA drive (before the XP OS boots). It recognizes the drive model # but just it hangs when it attempts to identify the drive size (i.e 1000GB).<o></o>

I suspect it’s a motherboard BIOS issue. My SATA controller is built into the motherboard and figure it’s the SATA-150 controller having issue with a SATA-300 drive. However, my motherboard manufacturer has abandoned any future bios updates. So, I went to the SATA controllers’ website (http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=63&cat=15&os=0) and found the current BIOS update (http://www.siliconimage.com/docs/BIO-003112-xxx-4284.zip). But, I can’t figure out how to incorporate it into my motherboard bios.<o></o>

I'm using Gigabyte GA-8INXP (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=1597&ProductName=GA-8INXP) motherboard with F5 (http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-8inxp_f5.exe) (latest) bios.
It has an onboard SATA-150 Silicon Image Sil 3112A (http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=63&cat=15&os=0) SATALink Controller (current bios version is 4.1.36C with the latest SiI 3112 BASE driver version 1.3.68.2).<o></o>
I'm trying to use a 1TB SATA-300 (Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=20b92d0ca8dce110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&locale=en-US)) in BASE configuration with jumper setting (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=Serial_ATA_Jumpers_and_Cabling&vgnextoid=4a02242cb043e010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD) forced to SATA-150 mode.<o></o>
The new SiI3112: SATA BIOS is v4.2.84 (http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=63&cat=15&os=0)<o></o>

If someone (Spinner?) could put together the F5 bios with the latest SiI 3112A BASE bios, I would be very grateful.<o></o>

Unfortunately Icrontic no longer has any members active in BIOS modding. My apologies.
