So I just dug up my old evga 7800 GTX card. It occurs to me that at the time, I paid over $600 for it before tax, and it was top of the line back then. Lately, I picked up a GTX 285, which to my knowledge is currently the fastest single-core GPU on the market, for $390. How the industry has evolved.

I'm gonna love it when intel releases the i5. My next upgrade is going to be to a quad-core (or maybe even dual, if it still has turbo boost and direct ram control) i5 on an SLI motherboard, and at that point I'll probably get a second 285.

I never understood buying graphics cards immediately after they come out. They get outdated so fast and the price just DROPS. Oh well, to each his own!

I bought a GF3 for $320 back in 2002 I dont think ive spent over $200 for most cards since then. my current card being a Geforce 8800GTS 512mb cost around $140 pretty sure it wasnt over $200

Its the joy of having the power now rather than after all the buzz is done with. While no one really cared here at IC, I knew I got all excited being one of the first people to post images and reports on a new GPU. I guess that was my hobby & it was just fun...

Now I still buy the cards, but just don't have the time to do write ups and reports.
