O.K. so I am finally going to college. I want a laptop that is small and light weight to keep in my purse. I need internet and wi -fi access. I need some form of word or documents for my notes, an sd chip reader, jump drive port, and I also want to have a media player in it. Other than that I really don't care. I also want it to be cheap like $250.00 or less. I was looking at the
ASUS Eee PC 4G (7-Inch Display, Intel Mobile Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Galaxy Black

Will this meet all my needs? If not what should I be looking for?

I knew if anyone could help me decide it would be you all.

Please keep in mind I need something simple I am not as technically inclined as you all.

Thanks a bunch.

The EEE will probably might your needs, system requirement wise. But with any netbook I'd goto Best Buy first and try out the keyboards on the floor models. Not everyone likes the tiny keyboards on the netbooks. Depending on how much money you want to spend (and how big your purse is, I guess) the 11 inch netbooks by Acer and Gateway have regular sized keyboards on 'em.

If you're not technically-minded, you don't want the netbook running Linux. Get the XP version.

The Linux that comes on the Eee PCs is really easy to use and Asus did an excellent job of tuning it to run on that hardware. As long as she sticks with the Asus Linux that comes on it she will be fine. My boss at one of my jobs in college had never used a computer before and got an Eee with Linux on it, she loved it and had no problem learning to use it.
