Im not proud of this photo, persay, but the subject was just too nuts to not include. Any suggestions for improvements? There is a lot going on in the picture, but to some extent the clutter is all adding to create a picture for what this place is. I would love to see how other photographers would try and compose this pic, maybe by a different crop.

Gargoyle: that shot is really awesome. the silhouette shows a great amount of detail making it obviously a church, and the sun hiding behind the tower like that is like a halo! Very cool!

Oh ho ho, you sneaky girl. Two themes from the same subject! Nicely done.

I think the biggest thing popping out at me at the moment is that the sign is half cut off - I can barely tell that it's a crazy-person's church. Expand the frame to see that, and everything would cohere a little better.

Marushka, I love seeing the LA pics :). That's a touch subject; I never got a very good picture of it. Although that's partially because I didn't have the guts to walk very close to it with Ed's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Grothus) paranoia of people (specifically, young folks) stealing stuff.

I think ultimately there's too much stuff to get in one picture. I'd probably try to get closer and get a shot with just the bomb, flag, and church. A further-off shot is ruined by the trees and chain-link fence, IIRC.

If Ed's granite bomb obelisks ever get erected, that would make a pretty sweet picture (the Internets tell me they're 40 feet tall and 39 tons!).

Everytime I have gone there, it has been closed. I would love a chance to interact with the owner of that place! Maybe if Im nice he will like me. I don't think you can go into the "church" can you?

I don't think so; I think they just use the church for storage these days.

Ed Grothus owned the place, but he passed away recently. The Black Hole's website (http://blackholesurplus.com/) claims that they're still open, but I wonder how long the place will go on without Ed's force of will. There was another guy who worked the counter there that seemed like a pretty nice guy, so I'm hoping it stays open.

Here's Cardinal Ed with the rest of the sign, Snark.

Aw, I can't see it, Garg. Repost? Or I'll try and check it at the hotel later.

I don't have any new photos from churchs, but this is from when I was abroad a few years ago- I think it's from the Notre Dame.

Weird, I guess they don't like hotlinking, and it was just in my cache.

Tempted to just upload it, but I'll play nice and link to the original website.

Awesome, thanks.

Critical Mass every Sunday. Love it.
