Need help with mobo

I have a friend using a gigabyte mobo with a VIA chipset ( cant remember the details ). According to him, it just froze up halfway when using it. When he tried booting again, the mobo gave 1 long beep with the HDD light on continously and then the power light started blinking (HDD light off). Anyone can tell me what this means?

i *think* its the ram...try a different stick...if not then try a different videocard

OK, got the same info from somewhere on the web, will try it out soon....

just really suprised that the vidcard/ram could just act up like that.....

I think that Gigabyte use AMI BIOS.

guys..... know this dont make sense but i tried booting it later and it had no probs, no odd beeping noises or anything...
