Athlon 64 compatible IDE controller card

Well my trusty Highpoint 370a is not compatible with my new MSI K8T NEO Athlon 64 board :bawling: so I need to find a new one that will work with the mobo (can't afford SATA drives for a few months)...

Anyone got any suggestions? :)

I even rang MSI and they have no clue why it wont work.

For your interest, the card wouldn't work in an nForce3 Biostar K8NHA as well as the MSI.. which is VIA based.

I don't know why, I tried every approach to solve the problem.. over three days.. but to no avail.

have you tried a Silicon Image based card yet...they can be found pretty cheap over here.

Shorty when you say won't work... won't configure properly or won't even boot or boots partly and hangs or??? And these are just normal pci 32 slots right?

Did you turn off the "plug and play os" in the bios? I have to all the time on my server boards to get stuff to be recognized and make it thru the boot with a IRQ. And I know you had to of knocked yourself out but you tried differant video cards and slots right? lieka cheap old pci video card not a fnacy smacy geforce or radeon etc?

I got two socket 754 boards here :eek:

One is an nForce3 based and the other is a Via based.

The nForce screwed every windows install and moving slots, tweaking the BIOS.. all the old tricks.. just no go at all.

The VIA board wouldn't even finish posting, no matter what slot I put it in. I did the same usual BIOS tricks, the works. It's screwy and I have no clue what caused both boards to have a hissy fit.

My video card works like a stormer in the VIA board (the one Im using). The PCI slots are just normal 32bit slots, shouldn't have mattered too much, so I dont know what either board doesn't like.
