I thought win xp had an unzip program built into it. Put my new raptor in and loaded xp pro and can't unzip DL'ed zip files. My other HD has xp pro and it ran zip files no prob. I had winzip on there, but deleted it and zip files ran fine. Anybody know whats going on? Or Do I have to DL a zip proggy?

WinXP has native ZIP support. Perhaps the file you got is not really a zip file.

The problem is they don't show as icons, they show the white box with the generic little pic in it. Just out of curiosity I clicked on it and they open! They just don't look like they should --with an icon or as a zipped folder. Thnx prime, I can get into them.

Hawk: Make sure you're not opening that new virus, that sometimes comes in a .ZIP file.. are these from email?

The clamp icon and association to it are winzip provided, association and icon can stay after uninstall of WinZip, on XP.

Sorry guys, I've been installing drivers and software. Didn't have e-mail on. lol
Jim-Hehehe
Prime, No they are software proggys spybot, aida, sisoft sandra, etc. And I have the view attachments turned off on my Incredimail. Thnx for the warning though. I've been reading about the virus thats going around. A$$hats that make viruses!
Ageek, No prob. As long as I know I can open them, I don't care how it displays. Also when I extract all files it makes a folder. Thnx all. Have to go pick up wifey from work and then I'll get into the OC threads--my pc is not running as fast as it should.
