How to create a poll.

Can someone please tell me how to create a poll. What code or such is recuired. I was about to start a new thread and ticked the box saying post a poll with this thread but no more options was available.

What you did was half-way right, but you don't see the options for voting until you submit the thread message. Start the thread, type a message, check the box that says "Post Poll". Indicate how many voting options you want. When you Submit Thread, you will be taken to a new window where you can type out the voting options.
