Film'd

Remember how I was in a short film a while ago?

BAM. The trailer for the film. Or watch the YouTube version, because Facebook's video support sucks. It's just that the facebook version goes a half second longer and you get to hear that great groan at the end...

You'll remember I was a little wary of the script at first - this was the writer/director's first time writing/directing ever, and he's just out of high school... but I thought 'hey, at least the project was a...

Myrmidon is John Galt

Who missed me, baby? I didn't think so.

Here's the latest excuse for me not hanging out with Icrontic: I've been filming a movie.

Well... not FILMING... actually acting in. I landed a lead role in 'The Party Record,' a short (not feature length) coming-of-age film about irresponsible high schoolers trying to get drunk. It's being produced by Paper Monkey productions - I think they're a division of Rrell entertainment... neither company seems to have a website, although...

The Myrmiject!

Stole your phrase, BuddyJ.

The reason I have been awol since, oh, july 7th is as follows:

http://tinyurl.com/m38mjr

I've been working my ass off to plan, film, edit, convert, and ultimately create a stopmotion video to the song 'sick muse,' by Metric. The whole endeavor is part of a contest, but in reality this became a labor of love - this was a blast (if extremely tedious at times) to do.

I thought Icrontic might appreciate this, so have...

Cash is an Ill Inspiration

If you are an astute Icrontian, you may have noticed the disappearance of a certain Myrmidon (you'd have to be REALLY astute, though, as I'm pretty forgettable).

I am not gone. In fact, all my free time (including, to my professor's chagrin, my homework time) has been going to a certain creative project to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

This is just a heads up to watch this space. Good things will (eventually) come.

IT'S ALIVE part II: Of Mantras and Micrometers

Posted 28 Mar 2009 at 6:05am by Myrmidon
As requested (though probably jokingly), photos of the previous blog post follow.

The most viewable parts of the test vehicle are the gold source/drain contacts on each transistor. A keen eye will also spot the channel between the transistors - this is on the order of 10-100 micrometers. There are six EXTREMELY LARGE transistors on this test vehicle. The real product that is used in the kind of flexible displays seen here is generally small enough to hide behind a pixel, although...

IT'S ALIVE! (or: what the hell does Dan do anyway?)

So today, after nigh on ten months of bashing my head against the wall, one of my transistors gave results.

Wait, what?

I'm a grad student (actually a concurrent student, but it's easier to just say "grad student") in organic electronics. My thesis is going to be in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs), which is the little stepbrother that OLEDs and OPVs make fun of when he's not around. I've been working since sometime in July on getting this stuff to work with no results...
