Internet Hijacked?

hello, about a month ago i opened an attachment and was flooded with a bunch of stuff that said my computer was infected, it also changed my desktop wallpaper and changed my explorer homepage. i went to majorgeeks.com and ran a number programs and completed all that they told me to. it did fix most of the problems, only now my internet won't even work. i tried a.i.m, msn messenger , etc. everything that requires use of a connection is not working.
i know it isn't my modem or phone line because the internet does work in safe mode.
>here are the names of the programs that i have run: CCleaner, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot search and destroy, counterspy, hijack this!, CWS shedder, bit defender, and panda activescan.

i would appreciate any help, it would be nice to use my computer again.
