I don't think you'd need to wash the outer cover. It's pretty much liquid repellent. I think it would be too stiff to wash - and I doubt there's even a "cover" - I think the material itself is the bag. The velcro is so strong, I would need pliers to pry it apart to see what's in there, and I don't wanna tear apart my bag
