My name change

Prime asked me to post about changing my name, since well, I've been Trekky8472 forever.

So, yeah, my new name is Cyclonite.

I'm not really a Trekkie anymore, and I was kind of tired of it anyway. I use it in games, as it sounds a little more intimidating than "Trekky." Heh. I just felt like keeping it uniform throughout all the forums I visit and all my logins to different websites, etc.

For a while I wanted to change the name, but I couldn't come up with anything I liked. One day I thought that maybe if I searched for some cool chemical compund names, or something like that, I may come up with something good. Then it struck me to search for other names for C-4, the explosive. I came up with RDX, hexogen, T4, cyclo-1,3,5,-trimethylene-2,4,6- trinitramine; hexahydro-1,3,5,-trinitro S-triazine, cyclonite, and a few others.. I liked the sound of Cyclonite, so I thought I'd give that a try. I switched in the gaming clan I'm part of, and it stuck. So, now I'm trying to continue to use it.

Not the greatest of stories, but hey, I like the name.

As long as you don't go and tell us that in your searching you found recipes for home-made versions of all those explosives, and are willing to use them if provoked.....so ya, we'll let you keep the new name if you keep the bombs to yourself, dude!

I have been a "trekky" since I was a kid and the original series aired in the late 60's. (I've been told that true fans prefer to be called "trekkers", though I've never met anyone in person who used that term.)

I'll admit it looks hokey by today's standards, but gauged against the other SF of the day it was a breathtaking achievement. If you like any SF movies or TV shows you should keep in mind that they all owe a debt to Star Trek for showing that serious Science Fiction could work in video.

It probably sounds dumb, but one (minor) reason I joined the Navy was because it was as close as I could come to serving on a starship. (One five-year mission was enough, though. )

My phaser is currently on "stun" - don't make me raise it to a more lethal setting.

And by no means am I no longer a fan of Star Trek. I'm just not as into it as I was previously. I wouldn't call myself a Trekkie/Trekky/Trekker anymore. I just don't keep up with it.
