Comcast top 'o' the line. We pay like 60 a month for everything but we got a REALLY good deal. Without that I'm sure it would be like 120 for everything.... ugh.

well, after exceeding the amount up/downloaded limits on campus too many times, this is what I'm stuck with for a week:

Download Speed: 23 kbps (2.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 23 kbps (2.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

So, I probably won't be around much, and the SMx Stats page will be very slow.

Some of you guys think you have it bad. Try this for size:

We only have ONE telecommunications company in South Africa. Naturally, they have a monopoly. They have just launched a home and business DSL 1024. Yes, that's no typo the fastest speeds we have here is 1024 and that was just launched last month.

What do we pay for these breathtaking speeds you may ask?

R400 installation. R680 monthly line fee and another R256 to the internet service provider who then provides you with a 3Gig shaped monthly cap.

At a current exchange rate of R6.40 to 1$ that comes to about $146 per month and a $62 once off fee.

I am using the new Verizon Fios "Fiber" I have the 2nd best package! rated 15dwn and 2up... i really wanted the 5up but as it sits now I need to make a bit more cash to afford that connection.

I pay $48.89USD per month right now for the 15dwn and 2up

to get 35Dwn and 5up it cost about $179.00USD

Lets see if any other dial up users can beat that./challenge/

I'm doing a test. Currently, we have DSL with the local municipalitys internet setup @ $40.00 a month. We're switching to Shaw Cable at the end of the week @ $16.00 a month for 6 months then it goes up to $40.00 a month. I'll post the Shaw Cable at the end of the week.

the reason Cox is so good where I am is CT and RI are on the same network and Cox is competing with FIOS in RI. Thus speeds better be good or all the RI customers would go do FIOS. I know quite a few people who have Cox and thiers it just as fast. Also, one must keep in mind this Cox system of three towns was orginally a different company with great cable modem speeds, so the network was already good when they bought it, thus requiring less money to get it up to DOCSIS 2.0.

Grrr. I just signed up for Ultra-High speed because I was sick of the slow REGULAR broadband. THis is horrible. I am not sure how much I pay, but it is WAY too much.FWIW the connection icon in my tray says "10Mbps"...more like 10 Mb per year.
