Dragon age new trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iFrHRaH0Os

This has to be the best trailer i've ever seen about a game.

I am SO WAITING for this game.

Ok this is only a video, and wont represent the gameplay at all, but its a hell of a teaser lol

I loved Baldurs gates 2, and i'll surely fall in love with Dragon age.

Finaly a MATURE dark rpg

I am excited for this game. While I like Fallout and Mass Effect and such, I've been wanted a good FRPG on the pc for a little while now

I am reserving judgment on this game til I see how buggy it is. Bioware has burned me too much in the past with games that have a solid concept but that crash or bug out like mad.

Yeah, usually the first 2 months of a bioware game are plumbed with bugs, but after that it gets patched and we can play without any issue, it sucks tho i must admit.

Let's hope this game will be an exception

Bioware already delayed it to fill in Mass Effect's big money slot. Hopefully they put that time to good use by fixing bugs. DO WANT!

I've been waiting for this game for at least a year now. I can't believe it's actually almost here. I also can't remember if it's been more than a year... or what I did five minutes ago. Where am I?

Game Informer already has their review of it out. They had some pretty good things to say about it but I'm always skeptical of very early reviews.

While I want to really like this game the trailers look great the in game footage is less breath taking. But more annoyingly is that all the preview material I've read seems to have this game flow like all the other Bioware games before it in the generic conversation options. They always claim this one will force you to make real choices, but that's yet to be the case. The right choice is always obvious as is the 'evil choice' here's to hoping this one will be different.

At one point this was a must buy, but now I'm on the fence.
Here's the official FAQ which does give a really good idea of what the game will be like at least mechanically.

In agreement with previous statements about reserving judgement until it's possible to determine how stable the engine is. I loved Fallout 3, and tried my very hardest to give it a platform optimized to run it without crashing, but I simply could not do it - despite tens of hours of trial and error, I could never get the game to stop randomly crashing to the desktop.

Finally some significant In Game Footage. Note that the trailer is about 20 mins long.

Looks pretty solid and really good compared to the other snippits of ingame footage I saw previously, which did look terrible.

*This is the PC version of the game.

I agree. Especially if they have quasi FPS controls like the last few Bioware titles have

Read another review last night about the xbox version and the guy said the controls are fantastic and felt that it worked better in some aspects then the pc version. Some things were a little more cumbersome but the core play elements were great. What I mostly got out of it was that regardless if you get the game for console or PC it's not a diminished experience, just slightly different. Each has their advantages and players should go with their preferred gaming medium and not worry about picking one over the other because it's better.

His final comment was, set all other differences aside and he was leaning towards Xbox over PC because he'd much rather play it on 40" and earth shattering stereo then on his smaller computer screen.

Until I got my 4850, I was thinking about getting it for PS3. I just preordered it on Steam, or maybe I would still get it on PS3. Except then you can't mess around with mods and user-made patches and such.

Definitely on my list to get. Probably will get the PC version.

I recently read something that stated full zooming out is only available on the pc version. I cannot confirm/deny. Anyone have more detail on that?

It seems that BioWare is turning the PC version of its upcoming role playing game, Dragon Age: Origins, into something special by making it the only one where players can zoom out enough so that they get the birds eye tactical view used to control the party in the classic Baldur's Gate series, which was also built by BioWare.

The Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 version of the title will encourage players to stick with the main over the shoulder look and will allow only a limited level of zoom out, which does not encompass the whole battlefield.

The news comes courtesy of videogaming blog Kotaku, which had a chance to play the PlayStation 3 version of the title. The Dualshock 3 seems to be well suited for control of the party, with characters easy to swap and with spells and special abilities easy to select and use. Tilting the right stick back shifts the camera view but the developers have dropped the full tactical view from the console versions.

The reason for this might be the fact that most of those who will pick up Dragon Age: Origins for the Xbox 360 or the PS3 will not have had any experience with Baldur's Gate and will see the over the shoulder look as being more natural. The top down view is still available on the PC, where most of the players will likely be hardcore RPG enthusiasts who surely have had experience with previous party-based BioWare titles.
So you can't play the console version 3/4 style. Instead it'll be similar to games like Kotor.

Stereotype much?

Unless I'm mistaken Baldur's Gate was ported to Xbox/PS2 and you had the full top down view.

I wouldn't say it's a stereotype so much as it is true. Almost all console RPG's have an over the shoulder look or a slightly panned out look but not a true top down like what Origins has.

Assuming most PC gamers are hardcore and have played Baldur's Gate seems pretty stereotypical to me.

Baldur's Gate was never ported to console. There was a shambling abomination bearing its name, however, but that was a dungeon crawler hack-and-slash.

Most players of RPGs on PC are probably familiar with Baldur's Gate, but not so many of the FPS and RTS crowd are as likely familiar. Of course, cross-genre players can fit any bill. The article didn't say "RPG players," but its comment referred to "PC players [of Dragon Age]," which implies PC RPG players.

I have seen this so called "Baldur's Gate" console game and it is NOT Baldur's Gate.

I spent my moneys on L4D2 already though. I'll keep this game on my radar screen though. I have usually been pretty happy with what bioware makes.
