This. ^

I have mixed feelings on another Stargate. SG1 was good untill Richard Dean Anderson left and Atlantis was kind of a seasonal hit or miss with me. So I'll stick to watching it on the interwebs.

I watched it. I'll refrain from any comments until the season moves further along.

yeah, syfy pilots are almost never good. They have some great shows, but I can only think of one that was good right off the bat.

I liked it, but there is huge room for improvement. Cool idea though!

SG1 and Atlantis took up a vast majority of my free time this summer. I watched all 10 seasons of SG1 back to back, and then the 5 seasons of Atlantis. (anyone else think the last episode was complete BS?!) Once I was done with the shows, I watched the EXCELLENT (seriously, if you haven't seen them, get 'em!!) follow up movies Stargate Continuum and Stargate Ark of Truth.

I have yet to see either of the new Stargate movies. Must go to Blockbuster sometime.

if you watched all of the sg1 and Atlantis episodes, you'll like them. If you missed a season or so... Maybe not.

Am I the only one here who thought the original Stargate movie was awesome, and everything that came after it was cheesy, hokey, and lame?

Jeff was all excited to show me the TV series, SG1. He brought over the DVDs, and we watched the pilot. I was like... Jeff, this blows.

Then he says, "Just give it a chance! The show gets way better!"

And I watched the first 3, maybe 4 episodes. It was so bad. I couldn't watch it. I gave up.

Guys?.... guys?

I actually started watching SG1 after getting the movie on Netflix because I'd never actually seen it. I am now finished with Season 6 and I am enjoying the series so far... I have heard it starts to go downhill after some of the regulars start leaving, but we'll see...

You're not the only one. I really liked Stargate (the movie); it was fresh, original, and offered a concept other movies hadn't done yet.

But then it came to SG1 and SGA, and they're so campy that I cannot watch them. There's a time for humor in every series, but it seems like every scene was deliberately filled with cheesy comedy.

So. Annoying. Do not want.

I loved the original movie and didn't want the story to end. I happen to like Richard Dean Anderson though, so the humor was OK with me I'm really looking forward to this new series and ANY Stargate shows..

now... about that cartoon they did.... no no no!!

Great episode this week, I'm starting to wish that I had missed like the first half of the season so I could catch up on it via Hulu or Torrent... *sigh* I guess I'll just have to wait like 'normal' people.

This new series has potential to be a new Battlestar Galactica! Though I'm not impressed so far it's good enough for me to set my DVR to record the episodes and watch later, but I hope they make them better. If this keeps up I don't think it will last long, but maybe the show is doing better than I think

I've been following SGU weekly. I will say that the pilot was pretty god damn bad. It was a weak pilot.

The series has been improving as time goes on, and has definitely taken a darker/more serious tone than other Stargate series. It also has dropped most of the slapstick/comedic bullshit, with the exception of the fat nerd Eli. I can tolerate him in small doses, but he has relatively minimal screen time, so that's fine.

The overall acting performances are better as well. I'll keep following along, and I'm close to being convinced.

Agreed. I enjoyed the other Stargate series, but so far I'm digging the direction SGU is going down. There's one thing that's been nagging me while watching it tho;

Am I the only one wished this is what Star Trek Voyager was like?
