Exclamation Newest Video Drivers (NVidia, ATI, 3dfx, Matrox, SiS & PowerVR)

DISCLAIMER:
This thread contains links to both official & BETA drivers that are available for each respective manufacturer. In no way, shape or form is Short-Media or myself responsible if these drivers cause any type of data loss, system malfunctions or odd occurances. Utilize the following files at your own risk.

WARNING: Beta and/or "Leaked" drivers have not been tested by your video card's manufacturer and are not guaranteed to work with your hardware.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL INCORRECT VIDEO DRIVERS FOR YOUR ADAPTER. YOUR SYSTEM MAY REFUSE TO BOOT AND/OR DATA LOSS MAY OCCUR.

Newest Video Drivers (ATI, NVidia, 3dfx, Matrox, SiS & PowerVR):

Introduction:

Since the dawn of the first Graphical Processing Unit, video adapter manufacturers have come to realize that the software utilized to drive the hardware is just as important as the hardware itself. Without a well-written, compact, efficient driver, even the fastest of video cards will perform miserably. From time to time, hardware manufacturers will release updated driver packages for use with their products. These updated driver packages contain software enhancements that can severely affect a video adapter's performance (which could result in substantial increase in performance). Because of this fact, it is very important, now more than ever, to update the video driver software utilized by the video adapter in your system.

This thread contains all of the latest, known drivers for video adapters made by mainstream manufacturers. Drivers can be downloaded by following the links available under each respective manufacturers heading.

If you see newer drivers available other than the ones listed here, post a notice in this thread and I'll make sure to get them added to the list ASAP.

May want to scrap the blue devider bars because it makes the page too big for anyone using a screen resolution lower than 1024x768.

    NS... two questions:

Why use anything lower than 800x600?
If the monitor can handle higher (which everything I've seen except ancient CRTs and the LCDs in some low-end laptops can) why on earth would you use 800x600 or less? I can't even stand 1024x768 anymore, and 1280x1024 is the absolute lowest I'll use...

Er...... sometimes it's not a question of choice but forced due to old/crap hardware, and/or other issues.

Why use anything lower than 800x600?
    I said 1024x768.

Some things may be your preference but that really has nothing to do with my point.

Easy there guys. I usually design for 1024x768 as thats the minimum resolution most people use now adays.

Personally, I run 1280x1024, so I usually end up pushing bars and things a little too far.

I'll shrink the bars and see how things work out.

Thanks for the comments & I'll definately look into adding the Omega voodoo drivers. I didn't even know that he made any!

If the thread allows tables then you could make the actual bars as their own invisible table and set the bar as a repeating backdrop but make the bar only say 10px wide, meaning regardless of the actual size the the persons browser, it will fit exactly.

    FYI Only:

Terry Makedon (ATI Catalyst Driver Programmer) has announced that the Catalyst 3.7 series of drivers is being polished and packaged as I type this.

ATI users will be able to download the Catalyst 3.7's either later this evening or tomorrow afternoon and can expect to see many fixes implemented with regards to hanging games.

    FYI Only:

The Catalyst 3.8 series of drivers is expected to be released within the first week of October 2003.

Terry Makedon from the ATI Catalyst group has mentioned that there will be exciting new features integrated into these drivers and that these Catalyst's will be the single largest new-feature filled driver released EVAR by ATI.

Rumour has it that the following features are going to implemented into the Catalyst 3.8's:

  • "SMARTSHADER" technology, implementing a higher Anti-Aliasing stepping that's one higher than the current max.
  • Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (possibly resembling RGSS)
  • Per-game settings of AA/AF settings that are selectable.
  • Revamped Control Panel layout (thank christ).
  • An official "Catalyst Destroyer" uninstaller that will completely remove all driver files & registry entries.
  • OpenGL 1.5 support.
  • "OVERDRIVE" technology, which will dynamically overclock your graphics adapter to the optimal level for increased performance. Overdrive will constantly monitor the temperature of the VPU and will adjust the speed as required to keep thermal issues from popping up.
  • "SMARTSAVE" technology, which will allow the ATI Display Driver to reset the graphics adapter when it stops responding to commands in most cases without requiring a system restart.

Plus the usual performance increases & application compatability fixes. Looks like a winning set to me!

    OT Here, 1280x1024 isn't a 4:3 resolution. 1280x960 is a true 4:3, so the 1280x1024 usually stretches things a bit. So therefore, I always run 1280x960

All the wallpapers I have are 1280x1024.
A 5:4 aspect ratio is fine by me, plus it gives me more desktop space.

On the 21" Trinitron, I run 1800:1440, again another 5:4 aspect ratio.

If someone runs 800x600 on today's systems, they really should invest in a new monitor.

    FYI Only:

The world can expect to see the Catalyst 3.8 drivers to be released the afternoon of October 8th.

It has been confirmed via ATI Staff that one of the main features will be that Catalyst will now include a game settings profile selector, in which you can store what level of AA/AF you want certain games to run at.

As well, an integrated overclocking utility will be shipped with the Catalyst 3.8's, allowing anyone to overclock their ATI-based video adapter (if it supports it).

More information will be available October 8th from www.atitech.ca

How are these at video playback? All of the drivers later than 44.03 have caused bad video playback (improper color and frame synching, and causing a sort of ghosting)

They seem to be working fine so far on my Asus GF4 Ti4400 & BFG Asylum GF FX 5900 Ultra, other than a visible choppiness in the original Unreal Tournament (however that could be due to the instances of folding@home running on both of those PC's).

As seen in my sig, I have a PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti4200 AGP4x 64MB video card.

For the life of me, I have never been able to get it to run in AGP mode on my KD7-RAID. It ran in AGP mode when I had my KX7-333R

I'm hoping this issue will be resolved when I get the NF7-S v2.0, and if it doesn't then its the video card.

Have you tried disabling 8x VLINK in the BIOS?

Reading up on the ABIT forums, a boatload of people have been having AGP problems with selected video cards on the KD7 & KD7-RAID motherboards. Disabling 8x VLINK seems to help in some situations.

    53.03 Drivers avalivable http://bfgtech.com/images/5303_IS-NV111403D.zip

    Updates to this driver:

    Improved support for HDTV Modes

Corrected the following issues from 52.16:

    * Clone mode may be set for the GeForce FX 5600 although only one display is connected.
    * GeForce FX 5950 Ultra: When 4x FSAA is enabled, half of the screen is black in Tiger Woods 2004 introductory video.
    * GeForce4 MX 440 and GeForce4 Ti 4400, Windows XP: Blue-screen crash during Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat.
    * GeForce FX 5950 Ultra: Homeworld2 antialiased performance is slow.
    * GeForce FX 5950 Ultra and GeForce4 Ti 4400, Windows XP: Rendering corruption in Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat.
    * GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, Windows XP: “X2: The Threat” benchmark is choppy or jerky in some places.
    * All GeForce FX: Intermittently, Warcraft III videos are not displayed properly on some systems.

Downloading them now hopefully i can use my tv with them the last set killed it.
