Intel in all its wisdom has decided once again to change the design of its retail CPU packaging. There intent is presumably to make it more difficult for fraudsters to sale fake Intel CPU's. My question is, how well do these fake CPU's perform?
Beginning mid-July, 2003 Intel will ship boxed Intel Pentium 4, Intel Celeron, Intel Xeon, Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M, Mobile Intel Pentium M and Intel Pentium III processors with the following changes to the package:
-Removal of the plastic shrinkwrap
-New entry method for the box with a pull-tab on the side flap for easier entry to the box
-Two tamper-evident seals added to the side flaps
-Box information label is now permanently affixed to the box
What I want to know is why are they still shipping Pentium IIIs.

The P3 period is a good chip (besides the cost). They're decently fast for their clock speed (although not as fast as the Athlons) but they run cooler too...
