SM LAN 2005 Target Dates?

Vote for a time period that works best for you if you want to attend SM LAN 2005. It will be one weekend within that designated time period (Fri-Sun).

EDIT/ Update

Please add your present city/state (or province) so we can see where the "clump" of potential attendees is coming from to help find the best central location.

School for most places ends early June. I say mid-late June is best.

April 1, 2005 - April 10, 2005 is best, but any weekend before May 22nd is OK, and any after May is not as good, but still OK.

I'll be in Indiana till the 1st of June, and PA after that

Nah...I haven't voted yet. I'm a "where's the bar?" guy so any time works for me. I'm actually thinking about Vancouver for SM LAN 2005. I know of a LAN place up in North Van and it would be kinda cool to arrange a tour of EA Sports for the group.

Rent a bus and truck the whole lot of them down there for a tour for an afternoon.

But it's Hollywood North and everyone wants money for things here....I may poke into the cost of renting that location for 3 days as it is completely ready. No nothing to do...just walk in and plug and play...servers, monitors and connections are all in place.

Next...figure out which place has convenient yet affordable accommodation costs. Even with the US/Canadian Peso exchange rate. (Drinking age is lower here too. 19 versus 21 in US....NOT that I'm endorsing underage drinking. lol)

Geez...I'm having this fixation on having a drink lately. Must be 'cause Dan and I keep talking about getting together someplace for a pint...problem is that halfway between he and I is somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.

IF Vancouver, virtually any time works and I WILL attend. Dad lives in Chilliwack so I got a place to stay rent free, tho that's a long cab ride after a few

I think you can see the BC/Alberta border from Chilliwack. Chilliwack to the LAN would be about a $70 cab ride...better to stay in a hotel one night and plan to have a few wobbly pops.

Late July would be best. No school then. We only get 3 weeks off. But whenever.

New York City. Whenever is fine for me.

Indianapolis perhaps? The midpoint between Detroit and Cincinatti and not too long of a drive. I can't really help set this up though sorry, I'm rather busy lately. If it was in Cincinatti I might go.

Ohio (by then).

Voted for first half of July, but probably OK anytime. I'd have made LAN '04 but I was moving in a few weeks.

Chose the date based on summer vacation from school to (hopefully) give more people a chance to attend. I'm really looking forward to a face-to-face with the best bunch of people on the Internet.

Toronto, Ontario - summer months are dicey for me, as I go to numerous anime/comic conventions. So the earlier or later in the given date range is better for me. Late May, July 4, and most of August is crapped for me.

Location wise, BC is okay for me, but I"d have to take off for a couple days at least, due to family commitments there.

ONLY 28 VOTE!!!!!!!

I notice, yet another great example of, "Don't care, just name the time and I'll be there" crowd has voiced their opinion. Maybe the poll should be a "Check all that apply" type.

Ya, I didn't vote because my preference is a larger range than the presented options, and if I voted for one of the above, I could skew the results

I've been able to narrow down the dates I'd be able to attend... May through July would be best. And I'm still in Cincy, so the drive is no problemo for me.

I'd vote but everything's really up in the air. I know I'll be here in Urbana, IL doing exams till mid-May, but I might head home to Maryland very soon after that and it all depends on job and/or study abroad in summer. So... I can't really throw in a vote yet because I don't know where I'll be for the dates I'm available. At least Detroit is a good bit closer to me than it used to be.

Edit: Squill I'll carpool with ya if I'm at my parents' place in Maryland at the time.

Nah, it comes back every few months. I'm going to go ahead and say I've narrowed down my choices to earlier rather than later - I'm getting married on August 13 2005, so I probably wouldn't be able to attend unless it was more than a month before that.

Married... Did I miss the news? Congrats!!!!!!!

As for the SM-LAN.... I assume another thread around Janurary to really narrow down the dates... maybe a "choose all that apply" instead of "Select only one" would give a better indication...

Good idea, Q.

No, you didn't miss any announcement yet - I was holding off until I finish the website before I said anything in detail... but I'm filling out the content of my personal website before I do the wedding website, so it might be a few weeks.

I'm fine anytime from mid June to the end of August. I don't have school during that period of time. I'm also in Vancouver BC. I'll probably go to the LAN if JChretien it going.
