Omega nVidia Back

NVIDIA DRIVER NEWS

(07/19/03)

Nvidia have recently contacted Driverheaven with a statement allowing Omegas drivers to continue development.

Omegadrive and Driverheaven will be hopefully working closely with nvidia in the future regarding drivers and support to further aid the community.

Thank god!

The first time I ever even heard of Omega drivers was after he already announced he was discontinuing his support of nVidia. His drivers blew me away by tacking on an extra thousand points to 3DMark 01SE, and gave me a nominal increase to 03... without screwing texture quality!

Now I can play games, AND have a high 3DMark score!

It was a complete letdown for me when I learned that that was the first, and last driver he would ever do for nVidia cards.

NVidia opens mouth & inserts foot

Their damned lucky Omega even decided to continue creating optimized drivers for them after the bull**** that he had to put up with from NVidia's legal department.

I for one am glad to see them back! How can you turn down a driver that increases your video quality and your 3DMark score without costing you anything?

I guess...

...they were just embarassed that someone came up with better drivers than their staff of "certified geniuses" did.

I do give them credit for swallowing their pride and relenting. Now, if only I had a card worth trying them on...

I hate to think of what would happen if you had noticed "Voodoo5"...

Not really as he doesnt write anything, he just mixes and matches the files between drivers.
