Question Linux and AMD

I'm in the process of deciding what my next computer will be like, and I'm deciding what kind of chip to put in. Money isn't really an issue.

I plan to put linux as the first operating system, then Windows XP (dual boot). My question is, does linux perform well on AMD chips? I know that linux was originally designed with Intel chips in mind.

It will work just fine. I run my server using Slackware and AMD.

Is it hard to get a board with dual AMD chips?

Not sure what you mean by hard....

There are plenty of boards to choose from, MSI, Asus, and Tyan all make excellent dual AMD boards. Just make sure you buy Athon MPs instead of XPs..

I currently run Slack 9 on a Tyan Tiger MP with dual Athlon 1.2s. It works really well. And the kit I'm using can be found pretty cheapish. But the latest and greatest stuff looks pretty good also.

MSI KD7 Master L for dual AMDs. I hear its pretty good.
