I believe the number always comes out a common demonator of some numbers. If you take a look at a single number on the right of the page, then do it over and over again, the image for that number keeps changing. All the denominators of the answer all have the same image.

Does it work? It didn't give me the symbol I was thinking of any of the times I tried it...

I tried it three times. The first time I did as the directions stated and I saw the symbol for that number. Second try I cheated, and just concentrated on one symbol, it didn't work. Third try, I did as directed and it worked. Not sure as of how it works everytime though.

Spoiler Alert!!!

Any two digit number minus the sum of the two individual numbers yields a multiple of nine. Next time look at all the multiples of nine (99 excluded due to the games restrictions of a two digit number). They all have the same symbol. And that's the symbol that will appear.

Math is fun!!!

Try picking 2 numbers and you will get the same symbol.
