CAS question?

If the memory says that it can run at 400MHz cas2 but can run at 500MHz at cas 3, which would be better for overclocking? Would I be able to get a higher overclock with the 500 because of looser timeings and a higher fsb? Or would I be better off keeping it at a reasonable oc with fsb being at 450 at cas 2? This rig is used mainly for playing UT2k4 Thx for the help

Since you like gaming, keep tight timings since it really helps game performance. Loose timings can be overcome with a higher FSB compared to a Lower FSB and tight timings.

Since you run an A64 rig, i assume that you questiosn about A64 and timings. Cas has VERY little importance on A64 actually. Unbuffered benchmarks shows close t ono difference. Buffered, like sandra shows a little more, but that isn't showing the real-world performance anyway. I'd take 250 at cas 3 any given sunday.
