Away on holiday

Hi folks,

I'm off on holiday to Italy for two weeks.

Dare I leave my boxes folding?
I've only just got my second rig back after collecting my daughter from university and now I might have to switch them both off.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Have fun in Italy buddy.

As for your boxens, I have enough confidence to leave mine on while I'm gone. Last summer I took off for a week, came back and everything was still churning away without error.

Hmmmm.

perhaps someone could keep an eye on my production and if it stops, pop round home and sift through the ashes.

If they are OCed, maybe back them down a bit just to make sure.

Have a good time in Italy.

Also, if they are XP's and you've had any past problems with them locking up when using SSE, then take the -forceasm flag out of your startup so that they use 3DNow! extentions instead while you are gone on Holiday.

Enjoy yourself, Crypto!

XP's? Luxury!

No, I'm running a 1200 TBird at 1340 and an 800 TBird at 880, big time !!!

So I'm on 3DNow boost which is still pretty respectable (sp?)

Would reducing the CPU useage down to say 95% be equivalent to reducing my modest overclock? Is that the same thing?

Cheers

ps I'm on NTL broadband and the service is really flaky today. One minute it's OK next I get server not found, timed out etc for half hour at a time, makes having an internet chat somewhat disjointed

Cheers

Yeah, if it's too hard to reduce your overclock a little bit(like you can't be do it in bios), then knocking back cpu usage to 95% should work I would think.

Reducing the core % is not the same thing. Your system is still running at those speeds. If its too far OCed then it could have problems still. It doesnt seem like that will be your case but if like a Antiviris scan starts up its running at full speed.

Most systems are fine as long as they are left along. Its the human intervention that makes it unstable.

A reboot to clear the mem before you leave and turn any tasks off. You should be fine.

Hi folks,

back from a great but very hot holiday ( temps in high 30's most of the time).

My two little rigs have kept going unattended for 15 days, the little beauties.

In the end, I kept my OC, left CPU utilization at 100%, but did a re-boot ( both running WIN98) and closed all irellevant applications.

Only snag, I've got a WU in the queue that won't upload. Any ideas on this one?

Close and reopen the client and see if it sends then.

And do you want to be running genomes. Its not a slow computer by looking at the times. I have a 68 sequence WU on a P2 and its nowhere close to that.

Just re-booted, no joy still won't send.

Re-set configuration to FAH only for future use but still puzzled why this WU won't go

Double check the server status and then run the command line with -send all
Every now and then I have one 'stick'.

Isn't everyday a holiday?

Are you using EMIII to monitor your clients by any chance? If so, then you can use it to see which server that WU came from and if it shows if it sent it back OK. Just examine the Queue.dat file info with EMIII and see if it is showing this WU as sent or still in queue. I have a feeling that the server you are trying to send this genome WU back to might be offline right now, for some reason.

Assignment server is online(107) and the only other server(125) that is genome is up as well. There are 2 others but are not specified as what project they are on, 109 and 113.

Had a look at my queue.dat file using EMIII and found that the WU that won't send is trying to use port 80. All my other WUs go through port 8080.
Is that something to do with my setup? I have two PCs networked through a SMC Barricade router.

PS Muddocktor, how did you managed to attach your EMIII screenshot? I've forgotten how to do it.

OK, fixed it.

Modded queue.dat file with a hex editor to change port 80 to 8080.
Seems to have been sent now.

Hope it's gone to the right place

Cheers
