Partitioning my new HD

Hi!!

I just got a new 120gig HD. It's my storage drive along with my RAID0. How should it be partitioned?

primary 0gig
extend 120gig
NTFS 40gig
NTFS 40gig
FAT32 40gig

Will this be okay? Im not sure about 0 space in primary cuz i have never done such a thing.

Thanx!

I think it has to be 8mb min in an XP install or Partition magic setup.

And it will only be like 38GB actually.

Its prolly easiest to use the XP install disc to partition. I have used to even when not installing XP.

And XP will make it Primary and not extended for the first one.

Please explain more about how your drives are set-up and exactly what you are wanting to accomplish. By the way, why do you want a FAT volume when your others are NTFS?

edited my mtgoat:

Don't forget that you 120 GB drive will be 111.8 GB after it's installed due to formating and the directory. Something else that caught my attention is that you want a primary partition containing 4 extended partitions. With NTFS you are allowed to create up to 4 primary partitions an a drive so why not just do it that way? Then you won't be worried about any lost space.

How come you don't want them to be primary anyway?

I was wondering that as well. I wasnt sure if he had heard of a possible performance drop or something but I dont know.
