Not because they told you so, but yes, you should call back. Or even better, show up. If they say the manager is unavailable, offer to wait or ask when would be a better time.
Best Buy (and CompUSA, I've worked in both) receive dozens of applications a week, they don't call anyone back as far as I know, they only interview the people who sort of force them to.
Also, find out what positions the stores are hiring for, the "whatever's available" stack of applications is usually the largest and the most ignored. You can ask any employee which departments are most shorthanded. Also, make friends with the supervisor of the department you want to work in, they can give you a little momentum within the system, which is what it takes to get hired.
