Smit.Farud.c Further complicated
Hi
My mate's computer was showing the smit.fraud.c trojan in June. he went away on holiday and I sent him some of the threads from theforum to help him sort it out when he returned.
He tells me he never got uit sorted but asked me to have a look at it today.
He's running windows 98se
The computer goes to the desktop and shows a fatal exploere error on
OLE32.dll at 15f:7ff31fe2
You cannot open or do anything and every time you close it immediately re-opens.
The same in safe mode.
I re-booted to DOS renamed the ole32.dll file to ole32.bak and re-installed the file that a unzipped from an old 98 disk that I had.
Now when you re-boot you get a fatal error
OLE32.dll at 15f:7ff21la2
There was a cd in the drive marked hijackthis.exe, so I think he has been trying to do something, but at present I cannot get doing anything on the machine
Any help really appreciated.
I brouht his computer with me so I can work at it at home
